Learning the Greek alphabet with music

Since it’s the beginning of the semester for me and I’ve just begun a new class with about two dozen students, here are links to some mp3 files available online with different versions of the Greek alphabet set to music. I’m not a musician, but many students find songs like this helpful in getting started. (I sometimes hear students humming while taking a quiz or exam! :) )

The first is by Ben McGrew, who taught Greek in our undergrad program for many years (now retired).

Second is Bill Mounce’s version (linked from his web site).

Third is Ken Berding. This is the sample track posted on Zondervan’s web site.

  2. Thanks. Is there any way to get a direct url for this and your other videos (e.g., the PAI one?). I can find the embed code, but nothing with a direct link to your video.

(I don’t like the ad display at the bottom of the video at all. Any reason for using that server rather than, say, YouTube?)

Hi Rod. I get ads on youtube videos whenever I watch those too :-) I tend to use blip for all video stuff. Here is my blip page with the three vids I’ve made public. http://dannyzacharias.blip.tv/

p.s. I pitched a DVD of Greek music videos to IVP and am waiting to hear back. If they don’t work out, I’ll probably try Kregel next. Either way, If you are approving of the project, I’d love to have a blurb from you when the time comes.

  4. If you put it on YouTube, then use their embed code to put it on your own page, you won’t get anything except the video. No ads so far as I’ve seen.
